We have a Part time civil/structural engineering position with the potential to grow to full time permanent. The potential for full time is Work release dependent. The Sr. Civil engineer will support the Western Service Area FAA's Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) Program by conducting site structural surveys on various towers. The successful candidate will have experience evaluating tower alignment and the conditions of the tower members and foundation. The Sr. Civil Engineer must have the technical and physical abilities to climb and survey elevated work areas/and towers in order to make detailed observations and measurements. This may include the use of vertical or horizontal life lines. This may also include anchor points for climbing off of fixed ladders using a PFAS, working on rooftops, and working at heights on elevated work platform or structures.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline, specifically Civil Engineering or related field
- 10 years of experience working with FAA facilities and operations including tower structures with the ability to evaluate tower alignment and the condition of the tower members and foundation.
- Able to meet the EURoeQualified PersonEUR requirements as outlined in ANSI Z359.0-2012. Ability to have a Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS), appropriate Fall Protection training and ability to perform inspections at heights.
- Must have the technical and physical abilities to climb and survey elevated work areas/and towers in order to make detailed observations and measurements. This may include the use of vertical or horizontal life lines. This may also include anchor points for climbing off of fixed ladders using a PFAS, working on rooftops, and working at heights on elevated work platform or structures.
- Preferred experience with OSHA fall protection regulations. Be able to identify fall protection deficiencies on work platforms, hatches, gates, guy wires, elevated platforms and tower foundations.
- Must be experienced with FAA Standard 019e, Lighting Protection Bonding and Grounding (LPB&G), and be able to identify tower LPB&G deficiencies.
- Professional Engineer (PE) Licensing is preferred.
- Extensive travel required. Must have valid driver's license, ability to rent vehicles, and the ability to communicate in field via telephone calls, emails, and text messages.
- MS Office Suite including Outlook experience is required.
- Proof of US citizenship or permanent residency is required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
